Givenchy Sunglasses

Parisian Esprit in Every Creation

"I'm so reckless when I rock my Givenchy dress",

the American singer Beyoncé sings in her song "Formation" and is by no means telling lies. The lightheartedness in Givenchy fabrics is reflected in their eye-catching and daring gowns, that they have presented annually since 2012 at the infamous Met Gala.

Très chic, très français - this is how the Givenchy Collections have been described for generations. Narrow silhouettes, a clear line and the expression of elegance and femininity are embodied in Givenchy's designs. Givenchy sunglasses are also characterized by the first-class style of the brand, which is receiving tremendous popularity worldwide. The iconic Givenchy elements, which lend each wearer a classy look, are saturated colours, the use of various materials and contrasting nuances - resulting in an urban blend of Parisian street style and luxurious elegance.

History

Hubert James Taffin de Givenchy was born into an aristocratic family in the French town of Beauvais in 1927. The nobility title was awarded to the paternal side of the family in the 18th century. Givenchy's father died of a severe flu when Hubert was three years old and with his older brother he grew up with his mother and grandmother. From his mother, Givenchy inherited an interest in fabrics and cuts. His love of luxury and his flair for fashion, trends and fabrics was not surprising. As a ten-year-old, Hubert de Givenchy became enthusiastic about the fashion metropolis at the 1937 Paris World's Fair, setting his professional career almost in stone.

Inspired by the fashion and potential in France's capital, young Givenchy left his hometown at the early age of seventeen to submit his sketches to renowned designers and gain a foothold in one of the hippest fashion metropolises. He simultaneously took up his studies at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. After being rejected by the studio of his great role model Cristóbal Balenciaga, he began as an apprentice with Jacques Fath who, alongside Christian Dior and Pierre Balmain, was one of the most influential haute couture designers in the post-war era. In the following years, he learned the art of couturiers from great fashion designers such as Robert Piguet and Lucien Lelong and the legendary Italian designer Elsa Schiaparelli, where he was hired as artistic director and where he soon made a name for himself in the city of love.

When he was only 25, he opened his first couture studio, the Maison Givenchy. As he lacked the money to buy expensive fabrics, his debut collection was made of linen and less expensive cotton. Lightweight, floor-length skirts, slim trousers, fine sweaters and elegant, white blouses were among his fashion repertoire. One of the blouses bears the name Bettina Blouse, named after the well-known model Bettina Graziani.

After his debut, he met his idol and later mentor, the Spanish couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga and presented him his classic, purist designs. It was the beginning of a long-standing friendship that was underpinned by the move of the Givenchy Atelier to the same street as the Balenciaga headquarters.

With the presentation of his first luxury ready-to-wear-line for women, the name Givenchy was on everyone's lips. His elegant jewels soon hung in the dressing rooms of Jackie Kennedy, Gloria Guinness and Grace Kelly. The presentation of the first loose-fitting sack dresses, a joint idea by Givenchy and Balenciaga, finally made Hubert de Givenchy one of the most influential and innovative designers of his time. At the end of the 60’s he also launched his first men's collection, Gentleman Givenchy.

In 1988, the label was sold to Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessey (LVMH) and Hubert de Givenchy retired seven years later. His successors included several famous designers such as John Galliano, Alexander McQueen and Julien MacDonald, but who, with their designs, did not manage to be eye to eye with the fashion designer Givenchy. On the contrary, in the designs Givenchy saw neither beauty nor elegance, which constituted the main components of his work. Only when the Italian designer, Riccardo Tisci, took over the post as designer at Givenchy, did the fashion house get back on track. With Rottweiler prints and Gothic romanticism, the image of the Paris label was completely renewed. Although this style probably did not match that of the founder, the fashion house sold their garments like never before. Under Tisci’s twelve years' supervision, 65 additional stores were opened worldwide.

In the spring of 2017, Riccardo Tisci resigned his management, and who in the meantime is under contract with trench coat label Burberry, Clare Waight Keller became the new head designer of the Givenchy brand. Waight has given the brand a new face, is the first woman at the top of the luxury brand and convinces with graphic designs and black and white campaigns. From haute couture to ready-to-wear collections, Givenchy now stands for light tones, straight lines, girlish simplicity and elegance.

The Couturier of Stars and Starlets

Hubert de Givenchy was considered the Parisian couturier of the finest women of his time. Actress Audrey Hepburn with whom Givenchy had a close friendship, became his muse. With the "little black dress", which Givenchy designed for Hepburn's film classic "Breakfast at Tiffany's", the designer made his final breakthrough. Although Hubert de Givenchy is considered the creator of the "little black dress", he preferred mostly bright colours and colourful combinations for his collections.

Other celebrity customers include music stars such as Madonna, Beyoncé and Jay-Z. For the Beyoncé and Jay-Z on-the-run Tour II this year, Clare Waight Keller designed the complete Givenchy stage costumes for the celebrity couple.

The label is especially popular when it comes to one of the most important days for celebrity ladies. Kim Kardashian, Lara Stone, Christina Ricci and Meghan Markle had their wedding dresses designed by Givenchy. Their presence in the public eye was given accordingly and the wedding dresses as a topic of conversation almost impossible to ignore.

In addition to various clothing collections, celebrities from a wide range of industries are also spellbound by Givenchy sunglasses. A big fan of sunglasses by Givenchy, for example, is Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge and wife of Prince William.

Givenchy Sunglasses - Parisian Chic Meets Elegance

In the Givenchy sunglasses catalogue there are plenty of Givenchy sunglasses for men and Givenchy sunglasses for women that are brimming with French charm, elegance and extravagance. The distinctive Givenchy style can be found in all collections, from the Givenchy Sunglasses Collection 2014, to the Givenchy Sunglasses Collection 2015 as well as in the Givenchy Sunglasses Collection 2016, Givenchy Sunglasses Collection 2017 and in the new designs of the Givenchy Sunglasses 2018.

With the choice of round sunglasses by Givenchy (Givenchy GV 7079/S, Givenchy GV 7088/S, Givenchy GV 7054/S) with a metal frame, you always go with the times and have an all-rounder for every outfit in your accessories closet. Also, the Givenchy sunglasses round (Givenchy GV 7084/F/S, Givenchy GV 7095/S, Givenchy GV 7091/S) made of plastic are astounding.

To show your stylish edges and corners, you can either choose rectangle sunglasses by Givenchy (Givenchy GV 7031/S, Givenchy GV 7002/S, Givenchy GV 7015/S) or square sunglasses by Givenchy (Givenchy GV 7081/S, Givenchy GV 7092/S, Givenchy GV 7055/S, Givenchy GV 7049/S).

For feminine Givenchy cat-eyes and a seductive eyelash blink behind the glasses, or, depending on popularity, over the lenses, cat-eye sunglasses by Givenchy (Givenchy GV 7078/S, Givenchy GV 7008/S) are the perfect choice.

Eyewear in aviator style is probably still one of the most popular models and true top sellers. With aviator sunglasses by Givenchy (Givenchy GV 7075/S, Givenchy GV 7014/S, Givenchy GV 7076/S) you have what it takes to fly high over the top. Narrow frames made of metal or plastic and the typical aviator shape of Givenchy aviator sunglasses transmit straightforwardness, as they did with Tom Cruise in the 80s movie "Top Gun".

The Givenchy sunglasses collection 2018, has, in addition, established a brand-new star in the eyewear firmament. The Givenchy sunglasses GV 7057/Stars captivates with 3D asterisk applications on the lenses and is available in black with grey lenses (Givenchy GV 7057/STARS) or with white lenses (Givenchy GV 7057/STARS).

Among the top sellers of Givenchy sunglasses for men, there are the Givenchy single pane sunglasses (Givenchy GV 7040/S). These models impress with their plastic full rim, straight lines, a no-frills design and colourations that allow this men's model to match any skin tone and any outfit.

The oval sunglasses by Givenchy (Givenchy sunglasses GV 7032/S) are one of the centerpieces of Givenchy sunglasses for women. Golden accents on the inside and outside of the temples, the discreet Givenchy lettering and their extravagant shape give each wearer a feminine "Grande Dame" allure.

The round sunglasses by Givenchy make an obvious statement with the prominent "GIVENCHY" logo in black-silver (Givenchy GV 7017/N/S, Givenchy GV 7016/N/S), black-gold or in feminine white-pink.

But keep your eyes wide open when buying glasses: there are more than enough Givenchy fakes on the market. Whether you want to buy second hand Givenchy sunglasses or order new Givenchy sunglasses online, you must make sure that you do not fall for imitation Givenchy sunglasses. There are plenty of indications to show you if your Givenchy sunglasses are a fake or are original Givenchy Sunglasses.

The price of Givenchy sunglasses, their craftmanship and weight are just as important indicators as are the Givenchy sunglasses case and the Givenchy sunglasses eyewear cloth to expose a Givenchy sunglasses replica.
