Colour is the new black: coloured eyeliners add an extra kick to your look this autumn and winter. From icy blues and pinks to daring colour combinations with a wow factor, everything goes if it breathes a little more freshness into the dark season. Those who wear glasses can get away with a bit more eye make-up anyway. So grab your brush, pencil or liquid eyeliner in any colour. The main thing is it should pop!
Fashion Statement Eyeliner
Probably the most striking colour combination of the make-up year could be seen on the Versace catwalk at Milan Fashion Week. Donatella Versace had not only dug deep into the colour box for the designs for her collection, the models’ eyelids also shone in blue-yellow. The style immediately became an Instagram trend, with influencers, Versace fans and fashionistas battling it out for the coolest imitation.
If you want to try your hand at this kind of make-up, start by drawing a broad, sweeping line along the lash line with bright yellow-green, extending far beyond the corner of the eye. Then, using light blue, draw a second line above it in the crease of the eyelid. Finally, accentuate the inner corner of the eye with dark blue eyeliner. Donatella Versace combined this with, among other things, oversize glasses with transparent frames.

Which eyeliner colour suits me?
Eyeliner is like everything else that happens around and on your face: it all depends on the right choice of colour. Of course, this also applies to glasses.
Tip: You can read a guide to finding the perfect glasses for your face here.
To help blue eyes shine, warm tones such as yellow, orange, gold and copper are ideal.
Almost any colour combination suits brown eyes, but they stand out beautifully with a contrast of powdery violet and blue tones.
Green eyes, on the other hand, harmonise best with all shades of red, whether burgundy, tomato red or rust is then only a matter of taste.
Coloured Eyeliner: from Cool to Hot
Giorgio Armani also relied on the beauty trend of coloured eyeliner at his runway show at Paris Fashion Week. He stayed primarily in the colour cosmos of icy blue tones, matching his Frosty Blue designs.
It’s very easy to do: simply use a creamy eye pencil or eye shadow powder in shimmering blue tones and then draw a thicker eyeliner line with a generous sweep, ending in the corner of the eye. Even beauty novices can do this. For this look, make sure to wear a warm blush or bronzer on your cheeks, unless you want to look like an ice queen.
Tip: Especially when using light eyeliner or eye shadow, be sure to apply strong mascara to the lashes, otherwise your colourful look will lack the necessary frame.
Which eyeliner styles are on trend?
Very trendy at the moment is the bold double eyeliner, i.e. a “normal” line at the edge of the eyelid complemented by a second line in the crease. But multi-coloured styles and powdery accents are also in, as is metallic eyeliner. To try it out, you can also simply grab your eyeshadow palette and apply the colours with a damp brush in the same way you use an eyeliner pencil. Have fun experimenting!
